Common concerns
If you’ve got this far and you’re not a fool, you’ve definitely asked yourself some of these questions. Well, we wouldn’t be gurus if we couldn’t answer them, could we?
Are online casinos rigged?
While we cannot account for every betting site, we can safely say that the Irish casinos we are affiliated with are legit online casinos and definitely not rigged.
The truth is online casinos (in Ireland or anywhere else) don’t need to be rigged. Casino games apply odds that are, in the long run, in favor of the online casinos.
See below on how online casinos in Ireland are certified.
Is there a way to beat online casinos?
There are several factors working against the player, including the long-term application of casino game odds that we mentioned above.
However, there are strategies that you can apply to put yourself ahead of the curve and make a tidy buck.
See our guide on how to beat online casinos, as well as our breakdown of casino games and best strategies.
Do online casinos actually pay out?
Yes, of course. Firstly, if they didn’t, there would be no trust, and they would lose their customers.
Secondly, the casinos that we sanction here are legal casinos and lawfully certified to operate the online Ireland gambling space.
What do i do if an online casino doesn’t pay out?
Speaking strictly for the casinos that we’ve sanctioned; every online casino is certified by an governmental agency. In our case in Ireland, it will be the The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI)*.
In the extremely unlikely case that one of the online casinos we’ve sanctioned here do not pay out, we urge you to immediately file a complaint with the GRAI here.
*at this time of writing, the GRAI is not yet officially operational and is scheduled to be so this year.
Can an online casino keep your winnings?
Yes, for only very good reasons or circumstances, even the most legit and best betting sites can keep your winnings.
Some online casinos will verify a player’s identity before large withdrawals so as to protect against fraud or money laundering. Hence if you are unable to confirm who you are, even a legit online casino here in Ireland might block your withdrawal.
Another reason is if you use any kind of hacking software against their terms and conditions.
Do Online Casinos Ban Winners?
No. You cannot be banned for winning too much, as long as you are playing at a licensed, legit online casino.
Doing so would also damage the casino’s reputation, and it is therefore not in their interest to do so.
What are the best payment methods to use?
There are several options, each with their own pros and cons:
1. E-Wallets (Paypal, Skrill, Neteller, etc.)
Pros: Fast, no need to share bank details, usually compatible with casino bonuses
Cons: Possible withdrawal fees, not always available
2. Credit and Debit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, etc)
Pros: Widely accepted, easy to use
Cons: Some banks may block casino-related transactions, longer withdrawals than e-wallets
3. Bank Transfers (Wire Transfers, Instant Bank Transfer)
Pros: High transaction limits, secure
Cons: Slow processing times sometimes, higher fees
4. Cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, etc)
Pros: High security and anonymity, instant deposits and withdrawals, no third-party involvement or banking fees
Cons: Volatility of crypto values, not always accepted
How to choose from the best betting sites in Ireland?
Online gaming is a huge umbrella that covers card games, slots, sports betting and more. And since the legalization of online gambling in Ireland, you, the player, have a glut of choices to choose from.
So, there are 2 angles to approach it from: 1) what you are looking for, and 2) what the online casino offers
What are you looking for in an online casino?
To find the right Irish casino for you, consider using some of these considerations:
- The types of games you prefer
- Playing interface and game variety
- Cashout Policy
- Sign up Bonus
So, if you’re doing your own research, these factors could help you zone in on what you’d like in your online casino.
How should you evaluate an online casino?
To start with, we only sanction Irish online casinos that are fully licensed and have a strong reputation. But past trustworthiness, what else should you look for?
Sign up Bonuses – too good to be true?
You’re no fool – you know that casinos don’t give out free money.
Each welcome offer or sign-up bonus comes stipulated – whether it’s a minimum deposit amount or wagering requirements.
Some bonuses will come with wagering requirements in the form of a multiplier. For example, if your sign-up bonus comes with a wagering requirement of 10x, it means that you have to bet 10x the amount of sign-up bonus before you can withdraw it into cash.
The bottom-line is, if a sign-up bonus sounds too good to be true, check its wagering requirements first.
Game Weighting
Not all games are counted equal – betting on some games may not count towards your wagering requirement.
For example, certain bonuses that you get that are only eligible for betting will probably not count towards your wagering requirements.
Your betting on different games will also have different contributing percentages to your wagering requirements
For example, any of your bets on online slots would usually attribute 100% to your wager requirements, but your bets on table card games maybe only count for a smaller percentage.

Understanding your Sign-up Bonus or Welcome Offer
We previously touched on how to evaluate a casino (link to above) based on its welcome offer or sign-up bonus beyond its face value.
Here, we’ll delve even deeper to help you understand how to come out on top amidst a confusing flurry of wager requirements, time restrictions or a sticky bonus.
Wagering Requirements
To recap, a wager requirement is how much real cash you’ll have to bet in the casino before being able to withdraw your bonus as cash. It usually comes in the form of a multiplier.
Okay, math time.
- You’ve signed up to a casino for a 100% cash bonus, with a wager requirement of 10x.
- You deposit 150 euros, which means your casino cash bonus would be 150 euros. But if you were able to simply withdraw a total of 300 euros immediately and walk away, the betting site would be broke, so obviously, there are conditions.
- In comes in the wager requirement of 10x. To withdraw your 150 euros bonus, you would need to have played 10 x 150 = 1500 euros.
- So, let’s say you play for a week and have finally wagered a total of 1500 euros in bets on the site. If you’ve played well and applied the best techniques, maybe you are in the green by 500 euros, bringing your total balance to 2000 euros.
- You would then have a total cash balance of 2000 + 150 euros (your balance plus 150 euros cash bonus on your first deposit) that you can withdraw, subject to the casino’s cashout policy.
So far so good.
What about a Sticky Bonus?
Like its literal meaning, it’s harder to get unstuck and clear of a sticky bonus.
What it means is simply that your initial deposit is included in the formula to determine the wager requirement: it is added to the bonus amount before applying the multiplier.
Math time again.
- You’ve signed up to a casino for a 100% sticky bonus, with a wager requirement of 10x.
- You deposit 150 euros, which means your casino cash bonus would be 150 euros. However, the wager requirement to be able to withdraw those 150 euros is now calculated differently.
- The multiplier is applied to your deposit plus the bonus amount. So, it’s now 150 (deposit) + 150 (bonus) = 300 euros that gets multiplied for the wager requirement.
- 300 euros x 10 = a wager requirement of 3000 euros now applies.
Game Weighting
If you’ve understood wager requirements so far, you’ll have no trouble with game weighting. All it means is that different games and kinds of betting contribute differently to meeting your wager requirements.
For example, slots tend to have 100% game weighting, while card games may have less.
So if you need to hit a wager requirement of 1500 euros, and you’ve played 900 euros worth of slots so far, all of it counts towards your wager requirement and you have 600 euros left to go.
If your online casino’s table card games count for 50% game weightage, you’ll need to have bet 1200 euros worth to add that last 600 euros to your wager requirement.
Non-Cashable Bonus
Like it sounds, you can’t cash it out (subject to each casino’s terms and conditions as some may let you if you’ve wagered a certain amount of real money).
However, you’ll probably get further Freeplay or credits. This all depends on the online casino you choose.
Bottomline, check or inquire on any non-cashable bonus for full clarity.
Legality of online casinos in Ireland
Online gambling in Ireland was legalized in 2003, making Irish online casinos some of the first in the world.
To check your online casino’s licensing status, just scroll to the bottom. It is usually under the ‘About Us’ section, or in the footer.
If you do not see it there, simply use control + f and type in license. You should at the very least see a license number and mention of the licensing body.
However, if you’re playing at any of the online casinos listed here, you can be assured that you are on one of the best betting sites in Ireland,
and that such issues have been vetted by us, the Luck Gurus.
